James Ratcliffe

Managing Director

James started Homeplay in 2006 through his passion for helping families with their home technology. If he’s not advising our clients on their home technology systems then he’s busy working out new ways of delighting them, either through researching and testing new products or refining our procedures and systems of working.

James also serves on the global board of CEDIA (the smart home industry association) and lives with his wife Charlotte (below) and their two young girls in Weybridge. 

Ryan Baron

Senior Project Manager

Ryan trained as an electrician but has found his true passion working in the home technology industry.

Ryan runs our projects, making sure that they’re planned, installed, and commissioned to the highest standards.

A keen football fan, he spends his spare time tinkering with his custom-built PC, working out at the gym or watching his beloved Arsenal.

Mark Thoroughgood

Team Assistant 

Did you catch his name?!

We didn’t make it up. It’s actually real. And he really is both thorough AND good.

This is ideal, because Mark keeps our office organised. He does our bookkeeping, he orders equipment, he organises our stock room and generally emanates happy vibes.

Mark’s an Arsenal fan, which might help to explain his bromance with Ryan.

Ian Connors

Head of Aftercare

Ian has a background in IT support and has a brilliant attitude to customer service.

His passion for process and documentation together with his excellent intrapersonal skills makes Ian the perfect candidate for making sure that our customers are well cared for after their project has been completed.

Tom Adams

Senior Design Engineer

Fresh out of university, Tom graduated with a degree in Architecture and came to work with us.

He has an affinity for computers, even building his own. He has an understanding of design through architecture and helps bring a fresh eye to our projects.

At the weekends’ Tom loves to roll back the years with film photography and hopes to develop his own film soon. He is incredibly tall at six foot seven inches but has assured us that the weather is in fact the same up there.

Sebastian Segerlund

Head of Design

Sebastian has a passion for residential lighting design and is a whizz with 3D modelling software. He’s a rare mix of creativity, with an eye for technical detail.

Seb plans and organises the work of our design team and works closely with Toby to ensure everything is technically correct.

In his spare time he builds amazing hand-made furniture from solid pieces of wood, incorporating beautiful hidden lighting details.

Toby Perryman

Head of Engineering

Having learned his trade in the broadcast industry as a rack-builder and subsequently as our Lead Installation Engineer, Toby's quality of work and commitment to delivering amazing customer service is second to none. 

Toby’s responsible for working alongside our design team and installation team to make sure that our systems are engineered and delivered to the highest standards.

Toby lives with his girlfriend and their baby son.

Nathan Littleton

General Manager

All the way from the USA, Nathan moved to the UK to start a new life with his English wife.

Before joining Homeplay, Nathan ran a similar sized home technology business in Dallas, Texas.

His experience and calm, organised nature keeps everyone and everything in Homeplay running as silky smooth as Texas oil!

Chris Elmer

Design Engineer 

Chris’s background is in designing components for engines but decided to turn his awesome CAD skills to the world of home technology and we’re glad he did!

Outside of work Chris is a keen tennis player and loves motor racing.

Will Fincham

Installation Engineer

Will is a highly experienced engineer with a real enthusiasm for the technology and the job.

He works closely alongside Ian looking after our existing clients, some of whom have been with James for over 25 years!

Will’s a keen DIY’er and into building PCs - even his hobbies complement his career choice!

He lives with his wife and son and is an all-around lovely guy and a popular member of the team.
